i hope everyone enjoyed their st. patrick’s day as much as i did! it was jam packed, people! first, a very successful show at the flicker theatre, complete with soda bread and guiness! congrats to those who won prizes! irish accent mouthspray, green cocoa, and the shamrock frying pan are all too cool! i had to go back to urban outfitters to pick up some more for friends and family! the night was great and thanks to all of you who were there; i didn’t expect so many! michael robbins did an outstanding job and for more, visit www.thebordercollies.com . ok, next i’m up in nyc to do some shows with bootleg remedy (www.bootlegremedy.com )
and bill carson. at our “rehearsal show” at the lovely barbes, there were friends from charleston, athens, and michael bellar even made it all the way from the depths of the upper east side! it was a really great night! this show was on st. patrick’s day, and while i wasn’t sporting green, it didn’t stop me from going to times square to play with the all too irish McCabes!!!! it was a great little reunion and i joined them for a set. a wave of memories crashed down, and i remember the insanity of it all! sean’s got the uberband now; they even do U2 covers now! it took me close to 1/2 an hour to find my
way to the exit! i have to say it’s a huge difference since they don’t allow smoking indoors anymore!
ok, now for cafe moto. i have to say that many people built it up, and after having a miserable experience on the J train getting there, i really didn’t care WHAT this place was like. then i walked in the door. it was better than what people had described! it is a sexy and magical little spot in a very unlikely neighborhood.
the food and wine are outstanding, and while it’s not an ideal place for a musican to perform, i’d do it again in a heartbeat! especially since i didn’t get to try the grilled donuts or date cake. you can see pictures of this gem at www.cafemoto.com . go there if you can; it’s quite simple. well, i’m working on shows for may and june so stay tuned. i’ve also begun playing with a bassist and drummer: mike lindhart and brent jones; they rock and i hope to do more shows with them soon! keep dry in the crazy rains and see you soon!

so february and march are filling up quick with a whole lot of new dates! please come and join the fun if you can! on march 10, i’m doing an evening of traditional irish tunes to get the spirit started! it should be a lot of fun!
i’m also about to go back into the studio to work on the everlasting full length debut album, we’ll see what awaits.
thanks again troopers! see you soon!

December 2004
greetings, folks! five months later...i warned you of my inability to keep a steady journal. fortunately, many wonderful things have happened which give me somewhat of an excuse....? nope.
all right... here are some highlights...
in early september, i frantically finished a new irish cd, just in time to take it to kansas city for the irish festival on labor day weekend. i've titled it "strayaway child" and it features great friends of mine including matt & evan bivins on some live tracks, the wonderful joel byron on lapsteel and a lil' bluegrassy guitar, and the super sexy and astrologically inclined sara j ursrey lending vocals on 'do you love an apple?'. it's very exciting and everyone should own one.
so, off we go to kansas city where we promptly kick some shamrock ass. it's my favorite irish experience of the year. i got to see former bandmate sean mccabe, the ever fun and talented band (and kansas city's favorite), the elders, a trad band of really gorgeous and talented men called teada, (who ended their set in true rock form: continuing to play in the middle of a torrential downpour with no electricity), and for the first time since i saw her in riverdance, eileen ivers!
there were fake curls a'plenty, bouncing off the heads of the cute step dancers in their alien-like outfits. i would love it if someone would tell me the relevancy of the curls. i know it's required, but i truly want to know why. i always want to start learning how to step dance after i see them. i brought two musicians who have never been exposed to irish music and culture before, so you can imagine their surprise to see these lads and lassies, green water, etc...
the best part of these festivals is after the festival's over and we go to a unspecified location in a hotel and have a HUGE seisun. it's the best ever because you get musicians and, therefore, tunes from all around the world! and what fun to get to know and play with eileen ivers! notice folks, we traded fiddles...for the evening.![]()
after the flooded out festival from the year before, i'd say this was the polar opposite and was a huge success for all of the wonderful people that put the festival together. i can't wait to return next year!
so, back home, i quickly started stitching dresses for my bridesmaids! i got hitched, people. september 28th was a magical day, and i got to spend it with the people closest to me. it was a wonderful musical affair, and i'll even share a picture from it with my wonderful and musical husband, bain mattox. our preacher was none other than izak (izzy) zaidman, frontman for uncle fucker, a heavy metal bluegrass band i was in in nyc. he does weddings, and we were his first. it was a gorgeous day and we totally dodged hurricane jeanne on the carolina coast.![]()
now that it's december, i'm done exchanging four identical wall phones, still writing thank you cards, and am still writing more music! i hope to start the new year with many dates. the talented bill carson and i will be doing some shows in the southeast and new york city area, so look out for future postings! i'll also be accompanying the alaskan fiddling poet, ken waldman, as he makes his way through georgia in january.
that's it for now! thanks for visiting, reading, and supporting! until next time (which i promise won't be five months later).

Sunday, July 4th, 2004: the last time i ever kept some sort of journal was when i was touring in japan with a 14 year old pop singer. who wouldn't keep a journal? the time before that must have been the journal i kept in 6 th grade in which i shamelessly divulged my crush on michael j. fox. this being said, i'm obviously NOT a great keeper of journals. however, a journal to the public is quite different; it's entertainment for all, not just for me to read 10 years later in a red fabric bound book with half the pages torn out. i am committed to bringing you, the listeners and fans of all that is tin cup prophette, the most up to date thoughts and occurrences.
i must say that i'm so excited to finally have a website! i can't believe it! it couldn't be prettier and more me; big big hugs and kisses to matt and lauren for doing such a fantastic job!
tin cup prophette is still in it's first few months of life, and while that is cause for me to celebrate, there is a lot of growing to do. for those of you who are not familiar, there are two separate entities: the traditional irish music, and the original music. for now i like to keep this separated. playing irish music is what got me playing the fiddle again and it's way too fun to relinquish. writing original material is what keeps my creative juices flowing, and is a constant challenge artistically. when entering dates, i will try to specify which kind of show to expect.
finally, i must say that i had a blast last weekend. i am also part of a band called the dole (this is a traditional irish influenced band), and we played in asheville last weekend as part of a dance piece called le suil go. it was choreographed by our friend heather maloy, and i have to say i'm so lucky to have been involved. she is so so talented and her piece, tv dinner, was one of my faves! check out her website www.terpsicorps.org for upcoming events like Alice, which will involve many many talented minds and bodies! it was a lovely few days and staying in a cabin up in the woods was a treat! matt and i played yahtzee, drank wine, and slept 11 hours at a time!!
well, this seems to be the end.. i've been drained. i'm going swimming.
